A call to action from Hugh Montgomery

Hugh Montgomery is Professor of Intensive Care Medicine at UCL, London. As a researcher, he has published over 500 papers, and is perhaps best known for discovering the first gene for human fitness. He is also a runner, diver, mountaineer and award-winning author of children's books and, most recently, a thriller.

During the 2020-21 Covid pandemic, he sat on the council of the UK Intensive Care Society, engaged in an £800k fundraise to support ICU workers’ mental health, co-authored national clinical guidelines, coinvented two new machines for respiratory support and gave extensive media interviews as well as working round the clock on the Intensive Care units at UCL.

Much of his work is now focussed on the immediate and grave threat posed by climate change.

Hugh shares an update on the Covid situation, what it has taught us and what happens next to the NHS.  On a topic very close to his heart, Hugh also talks about the grave threat climate changes poses and what we can do to reduce the impact right now.  Don't worry thought it isn't all doom and gloom, it's a truly inspiring podcast showing that each and every one of us really can make a difference.
